EDI Statement Resources

An Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Statement is a living document that communicates the commitment of an educator/researcher/research team/department to EDI and how they translate these values into their practice within a postsecondary context. It usually includes meaningful reflection on the following components:

  • What are the systemic barriers and EDI issues in your discipline, department, or institution?
  • What concrete actions have you taken in the past to address these barriers and issues?
  • How do you plan to address these barriers and issues in the future?

Research Practice Resource Library

The is a living database for resources pertaining to:

  • Team composition and recruitment
  • Research environment
  • Governance for partnered research
  • Training/mentorship planning
  • Evaluation and assessment

These resources can be searched using keywords related to discipline, identity groups, etc.

The Tri-Agency defines equity, diversity, and inclusion in research practice as "promoting diversity in team composition and trainee recruitment; fostering an equitable, inclusive and accessible research work environment for team members and trainees; and highlighting diversity and equity in mentoring, training and access to development opportunities."

Put simply, EDI in research practice is about applying EDI principles to your day-to-day research operations rather than to a specific project.
