Wed. Jan. 19, 2022

University of 91全能版 student Cameron Adams has created a Cree language app entitled “nēhinawēwin” that helps users to learn the language. The app is available for freely available for iOS devices and can be .

the nēhinawēwin app is based on the N dialect of Swampy Cree, better known as nēhinawēwin or ininīmowin in Treaty 5 Territory in Northern Manitoba. The Six Seasons project that is housed at CRYTC supported the development of this app which, according to creator Cameron Adams, came out of a lack of resources for his own Cree learning journey. Users of the app can search for words and phrases generally or by category. The app utilizes Standardized Roman Orthography. It also has a syllabic character option to convert all material into syllabics. Most importantly, the app features audio so that users can hear the language.
